Who is Angelica Salazar?

Creative, Confident, Charismatic

Graduated with BM in Violin Performance from UVU

"I am Angelica Salazar, and music is my passion and my life! "

What sets Angelica apart as a top choice string musician in the industry?

I am flexible, innovative, and personable as an educator and as a performing artist. I conduct business responsibly, putting people first, and I deliver high-quality competitive musical services. I have unique improvisational skills, and I can play a variety of popular styles of music.

What are Angelica's qualifications?

I graduated with my BM in Violin Performance at Utah Valley University in 2022. I aspire to earn a Masters and Doctorate degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy.

My performances have been described as both "touching" and "fiery", and I have been a finalist in prestigious regional, state, and national competitions as a solo and ensemble musician.

In 2023, I soloed with a professional symphony in Bulgaria to perform my own original Violin Concerto, "Bailles en el Tiempo" for my composition world premiere. My composition is currently in the final editing stages before studio recording and publication. I also soloed Tchaikovsky with the symphony and performed chamber music while in Europe.

This year I also performed as the fiddler in the hit Broadway Musical "Once" at Hale Center Theater Orem. I also was an actor/dancer/vocalist in the production.

In addition, this year I have gigged and performed professionally with a variety of professional ensembles including Artiva String Quartet.

This year I was also on the string faculty for both the Moab Music Festival and the Mountain Springs Music Festival. I taught student orchestras and ensembles with a variety of ages and levels and performed with distingushed faculty members from around the world. I currently work as the social media manager for the Mountain Springs Music Festival year-round.

2022, I won a Univiersity Concerto Competition and soloed a three movement concerto with the UVU Chamber Orchestra.

In 2021, I was a finalist in an International Baroque Music Competition and I also earned an Honorable Mention award in a music competition based at Carnegie Hall.

I have been teaching private violin lessons for 10 years, and I have been playing for paid live gigs and recording sessions for 12 years. I run a private teaching studio with 34 students currently, and many of my students are section leaders in school and community orchestra programs, are concerto competition winners, or have been accepted into university level music performance programs and orchestras on scholarship. My students are creative, supported, and exceptional.

Working with programs like ASTA, the American String Teachers Association, I work daily to improve my pedagogical teaching methods, and I make an effort to stay up to date on pedagogical reseach and development. I have personally designed dozens of original pedagogical resources for studnents to use in their lessons.

I have experience playing in university and community orchestral music programs, and I have served as both concert-mistress and as a soloist in various ensembles. I have been working as an assistant string coach and media specialist for the Utah Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra for 4 years.

In addition to my recent European solo debut, I have played for upwards of 400 highly prestigious events in the US including state government galas, university sporting events, government veteran memorials, large-scale benefit concerts, the Miss Utah Competition at the Eccles Theater, and even on the News. I have been featured as a violinist on freeway billboards, large graphic wall displays, and in online advertisements as an ambassador for the music department at Utah Valley University.

For 5 years, I have been an active advocate for the arts across the state of Utah as a representative of the Miss America program, being featured as a keynote speaker, guest performer, and host to promote arts education. I served as Miss Orem and Miss Utah County, and I now serve as the assistant director for the Miss Utah County Scholarship Organization, helping to empower other young women.

I am a highly qualified musician, and I put my own passion and personality into everything I do.

What is Angelica's life like outside of music?

I am a true artist at heart, with a love for acrylic and oil painting, prisma-color pencil portraiture, ballroom dancing, and I even have a history of 10+ years in competitive figure skating! I am currently getting back into weekly training with Ballet and I also do Zumba and Yoga classes for fun.

I am married to the love of my life, Jesiah, who also happens to also be a violinist with a great love for the arts! We are currently renovating our beautiful home in Provo, and we are pet-parents to an adorable little hedgehog named Bean! I like to travel the world, bake new kinds of breads, be in nature, play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, and spend quality time with my husband.

I am a brain surgery survivor as of 2021, and I have overcome many other crippling health challenges with resilience. I believe that being able to play music, given all the physical challenges I have faced in my life, is a true miracle!

I LOVE to laugh, and I have a spontaneous and spirited personality!
